Voice Recognition Funny Errors

Posted on July 21, 2004May 4, 2017

Susan Fulton maintains a great site for users of voice recognition software. She has one page entitled “Goofs to grin at” which is worth checking out if you’re looking for a chuckle. What you say and what VisVoice or Dragon NaturallySpeaking hears aren’t always the same.  Visitors have sent in numerous “goofs.” For example, one contributor wrote:

While typing an operating report after just beginning to use NatSpeak a few years ago, I got “The patient was prepped and raped in the usual fashion” for “The patient was prepped and draped in the usual fashion.” Thanks goodness I proof. I have also gotten “she is buried” for “she is married” (but that was due to slurred speech or possibly a Freudian slip).”
